Dambulla Sixers outstanding all-round performance secured a 28-run victory over Colombo Strikers in the 20th match of the LPL 2024 at RPICS.
Earlier, Colombo Strikers bowlers’ magical spells put pressure on Dambulla Sixers, taking their first five wickets at regular intervals. However, skipper Mohammad Nabi and Chamindu Wickramasinghe stabilized the Dambulla innings with a 62-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Nabi and Chamindu scored 40 and 26 runs, respectively.
Binura Fernando was the standout bowler for Colombo Strikers, taking 4 wickets. Eventually, Dambulla Sixers were all out for 123 in 20 overs. Matheesha Pathirana and Dunith Wellalage also took 2 wickets each for Colombo.
Chasing the target, Colombo Strikers only managed to score 95 runs before being all out in 18.1 overs. Skipper Thisara Perera was the highest scorer for Colombo Strikers, scoring 30 runs. Nuwan Pradeep (3), Chamindu Wickramasinghe (2), Akila Dananjaya (1), Mohammad Nabi (1), and Dushan Hemantha (1) took wickets for Dambulla.
