Galle Marvels booked their seat in the Finals of the fifth edition of Lanka Premier League as they beat Jaffna Kings by seven wickets with 11 balls to spare.
Chasing a target of 178 runs Alex Hales and skipper Nisroshan Dickwella started the inning for Galle. Dickwella could not last for long and he was dismissed for 6 in a much fancied way to a batter to get ouit.
Hales made 25 .
Janith Liyanage who was promoted to number 4 position in the batting line up justified the decision as he was able to build 92 run partnership with Tim Filfert. Liyanage made 56 and Filfert was on unbeaten on 62 when they cross over the line.
Fabian Allen Tabraiz Shamsi and Azmatullah Omarzai took one wicket each for Jaffna Kings.
Jaffna Kings took the first lease of the wicket after loosing the toss. They made 177 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs
Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis opened the batting for Jaffna Kings. Pathum Nissanka could not find his rhythm and got out for 4 runs. Kusal Mendis after a while manage to get some runs on the board while having 61 runs partnership with Rilee Rossouw for the second wicket . Rossouw made 40 and Kusal scored 46 runs.
Avishka Fernando kept the momentum for Jaffna Kings and scored 33 ball 52 runs being the only other batter to go for a big score.
Foe Galle Marvels Dwaine Pretorius took 4 wickets for 23 runs while Isuru Udana capturing two wickets for 37 runs.
