IND v SL -1st T20I: India’s balanced performance seals a commanding win over Sri Lanka

India began their innings with Sri Lanka skipper Charith Asalanka opting to field first. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill formed a partnership of 74 runs before Dilshan Madushanka dismissed Gill for 34 runs. Jaiswal contributed 40 runs. India’s skipper Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant guided the innings to a total of 213/7, with contributions of 58 and 49 runs respectively. Matheesha Pathirana took 4 wickets for 40 runs.

Chasing the target, Sri Lanka started their innings well. Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis scored 79 and 45 runs, respectively. However, Sri Lanka’s middle order fell quickly. India’s bowlers restricted Sri Lanka to 170 runs in 19.2 overs. Riyan Parag (3 wickets), Axar Patel (2 wickets), Arshdeep Singh (2 wickets), Mohammed Siraj (1 wicket), and Ravi Bishnoi (1 wicket) were the successful bowlers for India.
