Asked to bat first, Sri Lanka started the innings with Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis. Kusal Mendis got out for 10. After that, Nissanka and Kusal Perera scored a partnership of 54 runs for the second wicket. Kusal Perera scored 54 runs off 34 balls. Ravi Bishnoi took 3 wickets, and Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, and Hardik Pandya took 2 wickets each for India. However, Sri Lanka posted 161/9 in their allocated 20 overs.
Due to rain, the match overs were reduced to 8, and the revised target was 78. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 30 runs, while skipper Suryakumar Yadav scored 26. Eventually, India chased down the target with 9 balls to spare and won by 7 wickets (DLS Method).
