Ireland women registerd a thrilling 3 wicket win over Sri Lankan women at their opening ODI match in three match series in Belfast today.
after wining the toss by the new Irish Captain decided to take the feild first and Sri Lanka mage 260 runs for 8 wickets . Theier skipper Chamari Atapattu did not disturbn the scoreers as she got out from the first ball she faced for aduck.
But Vishmi Gunarathna took the bat over and scored a briilint hundred to take the Sri Lanka to a formidable score. This was her second ODI hundred and now she in par with her skipper atapattu who has scored two ODI senbturies in her carrier.
Chasing a target of 261 runs to win Irish ladies were able to cross the line losing 7 wickets thanks to their top scoreer Orla Prendergast who made a match wining inning of 122.
