Nilfar Ibrahim to coach Sri Lanka Rugby team?

According to sources, a former coach of the national rugby team, Nilfar Ibrahim, has come forward as per the notice issued by the sports development department to eligible rugby coaches in Sri Lanka to submit applications to volunteer as the head coach of the national rugby team.

In 2014, Nilfer Ibrahim, who managed to take the Sri Lanka Rugby team to the third place in Asia for the first time in its history, was later caught in the ‘cut’ of the administration of the Rugby Institute, and it is a remarkable event that he volunteered to work as the head coach this time.

Nilfer Ibrahim, who joined rugby from Kingswood College in Kandy and represented the national team from 1998 to 2006, was a school coach for eight years from 2011 to 2018.

He led the players to take 3 of the country’s leading school teams to the finals of the President’s Cup Knockout School Rugby Tournament, and those schools managed to win the trophy for 4 years.

In 2014, Isipatana School team won the triple league, knockout and seven-a-side rugby championship, in 2016 the double league and knockout championship, and in 2017, St. Joseph’s School team won the first ever knockout rugby championship under Nilfer’s coaching.
