West Indies arrive

The West Indies cricket team arrived in Sri Lanka from Katunayake Airport yesterday morning to play in two T20 and ODI series.

The T20 team will be captained by Rowman Powell and vice-captain Roston Chase, while the ODI squad will be captained by Shai Hope and vice-captain Alsari Joseph.

West Indian stalwarts Andre Rasan, Nicholls Pooran, Shimran Hetmyer and Aqeel Hossain pulled out of the tour due to personal reasons, while veteran batsman Evin Lewis has a place in both squads.

All-rounders Terence Hinds and Shamar Springer have been called up to the national squad for the first time, and will only join the T20Is.

17-year-old Jewel Andrew also joins the squad for the first time, and will only play in the ODI series. Brendon King and Sharfan Rutherford are back with the ODI team after a year.

The remaining matches of the Sri Lanka-Eastern Twenty20 series, which will start this Sunday (13) in Dambulla, will be held on the 15th and 17th in Dambulla, and the one-day series will be held in Pallekela on the 20th, 23rd and 26th of this month.
