Youth women’s cricket team to Malaysia today

Led by Princess of Wales player Manudi Nanayakkara, the Sri Lankan young women’s cricket team is scheduled to leave for Malaysia today (2) to join the under-19 Asia Cup cricket tournament.

Rashmika Sevwandi of Matara Anura College has been named as the vice-captain of this team, and it is notable that 6 players from Rathgama Devapathiraja College have joined this team.

The Asia Cup Youth Women’s Cricket Tournament will begin on the 15th in Malaysia, and Sri Lanka will enter the competition from Group ‘B’ in the 6-team tournament. Bangladesh and hosts Malaysia are in that group, while India, Pakistan and Nepal are in Group ‘A’.

Sri Lanka, who will compete against Malaysia on the 15th, will play against Bangladesh on the 16th. The top two teams in the points table of the tournament will join each other in the semi-finals, and the matches will be held on the 19th and 20th. The final match is scheduled to be held on 22nd December.
