The Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation (SLVF) has opted to postpone the staging of this month’s Central Asian Men’s and Women’s Beach Volleyball Tournament to 2025, its sources revealed.
According to its sources the decision taken to postpone the event has already been conveyed officially to the Central Asian Volleyball Federation (CAVF) and the participating nations.
The aforementioned competition was originally slated to be held from 18-22 December at the Negombo Beach.
However, due to high costs involved in hosting the event and the inability to secure the necessary funds to run the tournament along with the decrease in the number of teams taking part had forced the SLVF to defer its staging till next year.
According to reliable sources the total cost in staging the Beach Volleyball Tournament has been tabulated at Rs. 11 million.
However, the SLVF is likely to face a fine of up to $ 10.000 if they decide against hosting the said event from the CAVF, it is learnt.
