Athletes representing Sri Lanka won 06 gold medals, 01 silver medal and 04 bronze medals in the Asian Powerlifting Championship held in Uzbekistan.
This tournament was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from last (02) to (10) with the participation of athletes from countries in the Asian region.
There, Sri Lankan athlete Nadika Hemanti won 03 gold medals and 01 bronze medal with a Sri Lankan record by competing in the 69kg weight class under the senior category.
It is special that she participated in this kind of weightlifting tournament for the first time and achieved this victory.
In addition to this, Dilshan Aravinda, who participated in the 74kg weight category under the senior category, has won 03 gold medals and 01 silver medal.
Also, Susitha Sudam Suraweera, who competed under the senior category of 83kg weight class in this tournament, had managed to win 03 bronze medals.
