The final medical examinations of injured Sri Lankan batsmen Pathum Nissanka and Kamindu Mendis before the Test series were conducted yesterday (20) and it has been confirmed that Kamindu Mendis will be able to play the first match of the Test series.
During the match between C.C.C. and S.S.C. Kamindu suffered an injury in his right hand while trying to save a catch during the Major Club three-day tournament between the team last Friday (17).
However, Pathum Nissanka, who is still not fully recovered, will not get a chance to play the first Test match.
Pathum, who suffered a leg injury in the last one-day match in New Zealand, has been advised to rest from the first test match according to his condition.
