Visakha rowers excel at Indoor Rowing Nationals

Visakha Vidyalaya delivered an excellent performance at the 2025 Indoor Rowing National Championships, which was held on January 31st and February 1st at the Diyawanna Rowing Center, emerging as overall champions in both junior and senior categories, jointly with the Asian International School and the Sri Lanka Army, respectively in the medal tally.

More than 400 athletes took part in this event representing Schools, Universities, clubs and Tri forces, with events in the Under 14, Under 16, Under 19, Under 23 age categories and open category in individual event and Relay Event. This event was organized by the Amateur rowing Association of Sri Lanka.

In the Junior and Senior categories, Visakha Vidyalaya earned a total of 6 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals, marking an outstanding achievement for the school. Their success was particularly evident in both individual events and team relay races, where the athletes’ speed, stamina, and team synergy were on full display.

The Viskhians led by Captain Navithmee Perera performed exceptionally in all Under-14, 16, 19 and 23 Junior categories and was able to secure the overall Junior girls category by securing 6 golds, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals. Imandi Mahawatte and Dinagi Gamage also stood out by winning 3 gold medals each in their under 19 and under 23 age categories .
