A group of 19 athletes from Sri Lanka to compete in the Asian Youth Athletics Championships

19 athletes from Sri Lanka have qualified for the Asian Under-18 Athletics Championships.

Sri Lankan youth athletes qualified for the Asian Under-18 Athletics Championships at the National Athletics Selection Tournament that concluded three days ago at the Diyagama Stadium.

The Asian Under-18 Athletics Championships will be held in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, from April 15 to 18, and approximately 1,000 athletes representing 30 countries are scheduled to participate.

It is noteworthy that the largest number of people have qualified for this tournament this year, representing Sri Lanka.

Seven Sri Lankna participated in the 5th Asian Under-18 Athletics Championships held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, in 2025.Thushen Silva of Maristella College, Negombo, won silver medals in the pole vault event with a jump of 4.70 meters, while Nilupul Phesar of Vijitha Central College, Dickwella, won silver medals in the high jump with a jump of 2.01 meters.
