SRH Start Off With A Bang, Beat RR By 44 Runs After Kishan Ton

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) got off to a winning start in IPL 2025, as they beat Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 44 runs in their opening game.

Ishan Kishan smashed a phenomenal century on SRH debut, and was helped by contributions from Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen, Nitish Reddy and Abhishek Sharma, as they piled up a mammoth 286/6; one run short of the IPL-record total.

Ishan Kishan as the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter tore apart the Rajasthan Royals bowlers and smashed a 25-ball fifty to push his team’s total beyond the opposition’s reach at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

The pocket dynamo was dropped from the Indian side at the start of 2024 and he also lost his BCCI central contract. Eventually, the likes of Rishabh Pant, Dhruv Jurel and Sanju Samson moved ahead in the pecking order as Ishan’s stocks fell.

However, the ongoing season could provide a chance for Ishan to resurrect his career as he looks to regain his place in the team.

In reply, RR lost the wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Riyan Parag and Nitish Rana inside the powerplay. Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel cracked fifties,

Rajasthan Royals had a terrible start to their innings, losing crucial wickets of Yashasvi Jaiswal, Nitish Rana and stand-in captain Riyan Parag in quick succession. However, Sanju Samson and Dhruv Jurel put up a fight for the visitors, slamming belligerent fifties but it wasn’t enough for victory.

Shimron Hetmyer struck 42 unbeaten runs, but eventually, RR fell short of the target by 44 runs.
