
Sri Lanka will be represented by 10 shuttlers at the Bank of Ningbo Badminton Asia Championship 2025, scheduled to be held at the Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium in Ningbo, China from April 8th to 13th. The cynosure of the Sri Lankan team will be on the country’s top ranked Men’s Singles player Viren Nettasinghe, who has already gained attention occupying the 65th position in world rankings. Ranithma Liyanage, the world’s 108th ranked in Women’s Singles, will be another prospect expected to reach a podium finish at the six-day competition, which offers a grand prize money of USD 500,000.
Sri Lanka will be represented by Madhuka Dulanjana and Lahiru Weerasinghe in the Men’s Open Doubles category, while two pairs will team up to bolster the country’s chances of a medal prospect in the Women’s Open Doubles. The two pairs in action will be Isuri Attanayake and Sithumi de Silva as a unit, and Hasini Ambalangodage and Hasara Wijayarathne as Sri Lanka’s other option in Women’s Doubles. Both pairs have performed exceptionally well, while claiming a few international medals last season.
Thulith Palliyaguruge and Panchali Adhikari will team up as Sri Lanka’s only Mixed Open Doubles pair, beginning their medal quest from the qualifiers. The team will be assisted by a three-member official team that includes Roshan Dhammika, Hasitha Chanaka and A.P.M.K. Ishari, as the lady chaperone. The Ministry of Sports has granted Sri Lanka Badminton (SLB) and the team its official approval to represent Sri Lanka at one of Asia’s top competitions, sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation.
