Sri Lanka ‘A’ in easy win over Ireland

Openers Lasith Croospulle(53) and Lahiru Udara (47) added superb 107 runs stand while left arm paceman Dilshan Madushanka had fine figures of 4 for 44 as Sri Lanka A recorded 6-wicket win over Ireland ‘A’ in their Tri-Series match at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.This was Sri Lanka’s back to back third win and they also ensured the place to the final with an unbeaten record.

Ireland A opted to bat first but Sri Lankan bowlers did a decent job from the beginning with experienced Madushanka was leading the way with his back to back four wicket haul in the series and good supporting role from leg spinner Dushan Hemantha (3/24), and Milan Ratnayake (2/26) did the damage with remarkable efficiency to bowl out Ireland ‘A’ for a paltry 192.

Earlier, Ireland ‘A’ made 192 in 46 overs while Christopher De Freitas emerged as Ireland’s most successful batter making an unbeaten 67 off 96 deliveries. His innings featured five boundaries and a six, providing much-needed stability to the Irish lineup. Morgan Topping also added 45 off 87 balls, including four boundaries and a six.This pair formed Ireland’s most productive partnership of the innings, adding 64 runs for the fourth wicket before Sri Lanka’s bowlers fought back.strongly. Dilshan Madushanka was adjudged the player of match for his superb bowling performance.

Earlier, on April 15, Sri Lanka recorded a comfortable 6-wicket win against Afghanistan ‘A’ after defeating Ireland ‘A’ in their first meeting on April 13 by 45 runs at the same venue. Sri Lanka ‘A’ will meet Afghanistan A on Wednesday ( 23) , ahead of the final to be played on Friday.
