The unfortunate incident occurred when athletes Niduki Prithana and Ayesha Sewwandi, who were scheduled to compete in the 1500 meter event at the Asian Under-18 Athletics Championships held in Saudi Arabia recently, were unable to participate in the event.
It is reported that Sports Minister Sunil Kumara Gamage has ordered an investigation.
An investigation will be conducted to determine whether there was any negligence on the part of the officials involved in the tournament.
