SAG 2019: Nepal’s Anjali Chand records the best bowling figures in Women’s T20 Cricket

Nepali player Anjali Chand has bagged six wickets without conceding a run against Maldives women’s team in the ongoing South Asian Games 2019, recorded as the best bowling figures in women’s T20I history. The Maldives got bowled out for just 16 in 10.1 overs, as Nepal chased the target down comfortably in just five balls.

Anjali Chand broke the record set by Maldives’ Mas Elysa, who took 6/3 against the Chinese women’s team earlier in 2019. It was the opening match of the T20 Cricket event in the ongoing 13th South Asian Games held in Pokhara Stadium, Nepal.

Anjali clinched three wickets in the seventh over, struck two in the ninth, and grabbed the final wicket in the 11th over. She cleaned up the Maldives line-up in just 2.1 overs. The medium-pacer with two maidens helped Nepal start the proceedings well against the Maldives with a 10-wickets victory.

Nepal, Bangladesh, Maldives, and Sri Lanka are playing T20 cricket tournament in Nepal as a part of the 13th South Asian Games. Cricket returned to the event after eight long years, in both the men’s and women’s categories.

India’s Deepak Chahar recorded 6/7 in 3.2 overs against Bangladesh last month, which remains the best bowling figure in men’s T20 cricket.
