SL U-19 cricketers leave to the Caribbeans for a tri-series ahead of the world cup

Sri Lanka under 19 team will take part in the Triangular one-day cricket tournament scheduled to start today 6th in West Indies.

Sri Lanka team had to face difficulty with five players visa refusal from the USA embassy but finally SLC managed to get that visas from the UK embassy and team divided into two groups start their journey from two ways one section through the USA and other section thorough the UK to take part this tournament which involves Sri Lanka, England and host West Indies .

Sri Lankan under 19 head coach Hashan Tillekaratna said the tour is very important before the under 19 world cup.

Former test captain Tillakaratne and experienced coach also said match practice is more important for the Sri Lanka team to focus on under 19 world cup. “We have to play the world cup in South Africa next February. The  Caribbean wickets are also expected to be fast and bouncy to aiding the players to adjust to the conditions,” said Tillakaratne.
He said that this tournament would be a bit tough as they had no time to go through sufficient practice sessions needed and he expect the players would adjust to the demanding situation.
Sri Lankan under 19 team will be led by Nipun Dhananjaya while three experienced players Kamil Mishara, Ahan Wickramasinghe and Ashen Daniel once again back to the team after the suspension due to disciplinary action from the SLC for their poor discipline during the last Asia Cup tournament.
