Sri Lanka may lose hosting rights of World Bodybuilding Championship

Sri Lanka may lose the opportunity to host the 72nd World Bodybuilding Championship proposed to be held in 2021.
This is mainly due to the absence of elected officials to the Sri Lanka Bodybuilding Federation or an interim committee appointed by the Ministry of Sports in Sri Lanka.
This is one of the biggest events in the world bodybuilding calendar which will witness the participation of more than 750 participants from across 72 countries.
Hosting of the World Bodybuilding Championship was presented to Sri Lanka at an international convention in Spain in 2015, which was confirmed at an executive committee meeting held at the Dubai Worlds last year.
However, no discussion or action has been initiated so far to host this mega tournament.
The main reason for this is the resignation of the members of the bodybuilding association and the departure of the interim committee members after several bodybuilders leveled various allegations against them.
Under the circumstances, there is no official directly responsible for the administration of the bodybuilding sport at the moment in Sri Lanka.
