Indian women’s team juggernaut remains unstoppable with their fourth consecutive win in the tournament. This time around, it was the Sri Lankan team who faced the wrath of India’s invincibility by a margin of 7 wickets.
Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu won the toss elected to bat first on a good batting track at Junction Oval in Melbourne. Followed by a meek start, the Lankan team found some solidity in the form of their captain’s knock of 33 off 24 deliveries.
However, the Lankans succumbed to relentless pressure from the Indian bowling attack. Wickets at regular intervals during the middle overs dampened Sri Lanka’s expectations of a challenging total in front of the mighty Indian batting line-up.
Player of the match, Radha Yadav starred for the Indian bowlers with her supreme spell of 4/23 in her four overs. India bullied the Lankans with their spin quartet.
