Hasaranga and Kusal doubtful starters for series against England

All Rounder Wanindu Hasaranga, who sustained a left hamstring injury while fielding during the 2nd T20  vs West Indies will be out from the game for several weeks. According to the SLC media reports Hasaranga has done an MRI scan on  Saturday (07th March) and the report is expected in coming Tuesday.

However reliable sources said Wanindu Hasaranga’s promising start to his international career has suffered a major blow after the 22-year-old was ruled out for six weeks with a hamstring injury.

Hasaranga had been included in the Test squad to play against England alongside left-arm orthodox spinner Lasith Embuldeniya but the selectors were forced to withdraw his name after he picked up the injury during the second T20 International against West Indies at Pallekele on Friday.

Meanwhile, Wicket Keeper – Batsman Kusal Janith Perera, who sustained an injury to his right middle finger (Right finger contusion), while wicket-keeping during the 2nd T20i vs West Indies is expected to be fit in two weeks said on SLC media reports.

Kusal Janith Perera, who was rushed to hospital in Kandy after getting hit on the hand while collecting a Lasith Malinga yorker during Friday’s game, is available for selection for the England Tests. KJP has not suffered a fracture but only torn ligaments.

However, Kusal Janith did not feature in the Test series against Zimbabwe last month but has been recalled for the England series in place of Lahiru Thirimanne, According to the reliable sources Kusal Janith will fight with former captain Dinesh Chandimal for the remaining middle-order spot.

All-rounder Dhananjaya de Silva, meanwhile, will delay his surgery on a bump he has on his wrist. The surgery will be done after the Test matches against England.
