Colombo Cricket Club (CCC) leads Group A of the Sri Lanka Cricket Premier League Tournament Tier A with 97.5 points so far having won 4 of their 6 matches with 2 drawn while Colts CC is second with 69.75 points from 2 wins, 2 losses and 2 no results while Sri Lanka Army is placed third with 61 .14 points having won 2 matches, lost 2 and drawn 2. CCC led by all-rounder Ashan Priyanjana maintains an unbeaten record so far this tournament once again expected to retain the Premier League championship.
The lads from Maitland Crescent coach by former Nalandian paceman Tharanga Dhammika said their team success always very high with both youngsters and seniors do their part very well . Especially we have not big names in our team. Kusal Mendis, Lakshan Sandakan, Wanidu Hasaranga and Vishwa Fernando are out of the team due to National duties but Minod Bhanuka wicket-keeper batsman, skipper Priyanjan and leg spinner Malinda Pushpakumara always get full responsibility to guide newcomers Pawan Ratnayake, Sonal Dinusha, Kavidu Nadeeshan all are still school players but they really performed well with the seniors. CCC already emerged T-20 champions looking to make double with the league title
Meanwhile, Chilaw Marians Cricket Club lead Group B with a tally of 65.71 points having registered 3 wins from 6 matches and lost 2 and drawn 1 while NCC is placed second with 61.18 points from 1 win and 4 no results followed by Saracens in third place with 60.5 points having won 1, lost 2 and drawn 3.
Chilaw Marians already won Premier limited over championships missed to complete double with defeating CCC the T-20 final looking to win the league title. Their opener Lasith Croosepulle, promising allrounder Kamindu Mendis and skipper Shehan Jayasuriya is in top form and National player Oshada Fernando also come back to strengthen the side . However, NCC led by middle-order batsman Angelo Perera also have the services of Lahiru Udana, Sahan Arachchige and experienced Upul Tharanga strength the batting line up while young National leggie Lasith Embuldeniya who got his career-best figures of 9 for 86 against their last winning match Sarances CC and Chaturanga de Silva the experienced leggie always with the wickets to trouble for opponents. Lahiru Kumara, Niroshan Dikwella also missed most of the matches due to National duties but NCC side coach by Duminda Perera come forward with good team effort .
However due to Corona Virus threat SLC already postpone the forthcoming Premier league matches until situation come to normal .
