Sri Lanka Netball Federation President Victoria Lakshmi said the resignation letter of the Netball Head coach Thilaka Jinadasa has been accepted by the National Federation. “I received her letter. I knew her contract period of the head coach post is over after the Asian Championships in next June” said Lakshmi adding that she was said to learn the explanations given by the former coach to the media as reasons for her resignation.
SLNF President said that Thilaka Jinadasa is a very talented coach for the country and has done a good job to develop the National team. “When she joined as the national head coach, I was the Vice President of the Federation.
Being appointed as the President, Victoria Lakshmi said that she always attempted promoted the sport of Netball in Sri Lanka and develop the national team. “We had good agreement about the coaching. I was in charge to do most of the things. We wanted to appoint an Assistant coach to Thilaka and also promised to arrange International tours to get international exposure before the Asian Championships.” She said adding that they had already planned to get visa and air tickets for the exposure tours.
Netball President Lakshmi said that it was very unfortunate that a talented coach like Thilaka Jinadasa resigned from the game and due to the emergency situation prevailing in the whole world, they will be carefully studying the future of the national team and the assignment of a new coach to the team.
