India avenged their ODI series loss, chasing down a challenging 195-run target set by Australia in the second T20I. The visitors won the opener in Canberra by 11 runs on Friday.
Hardik Pandya slammed the winning six to help India defeat Australia in the second T20I at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday. The visitors won by six wickets, sealing the three-match T20I series with a game to spare. Earlier, India won the toss and elected to field.
Matthew Wade hit his second T20I half-century to help Australia set a 195-run target. Steve Smith (46), Glenn Maxwell (22) and Moises Henriques (26) also added to their team’s imposing total. Australia wrapped up at 194 for five after 20 overs, with T Natarajan grabbing two wickets.
India put in a bright start, and KL Rahul’s dismissal bought in Virat Kohli, who anchored India’s chase with opener Shikhar Dhawan. Dhawan slammed 52 runs from 36 balls, and Kohli scored 40 from 24 deliveries.
Pandya and Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten, and helped the visitors get over the line with two balls remaining. Mitchell Swepson put in the best bowling figures for the home side, grabbing a wicket from four overs, and conceding just 25 runs
