Super Kings beat Royals by 45 runs

Chennai Super Kings register a comprehensive win against Rajasthan Royals by 45 runs. Sanju Samson-led Royals failed to chase down a target of 189 as they managed to put only 143/9 on the board. They did not even come close to the target, thanks to the batting collapse in the middle overs. Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali preyed on the Royals’ middle order as they lost five wickets for just eight runs.

Jos Buttler top-scored for Royals scoring 49 runs from 35 deliveries. Jadeja took wickets of Buttler and Shivam Dube whereas Ali’s three wickets included David Miller, Riyan Parag and Chris Morris.

Earlier, Dwayne Bravo’s 8-ball 20 helped Chennai Super Kings post 188/9 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Despite the big score, there was no big score from one particular batsman in the CSK lineup. Opener Faf du Plessis was the highest run-scorer with 33 runs from 17 deliveries.

The CSK innings was a string of cameos from Du Plessis, Ali, Ambati Rayudu, Sam Curran and Bravo. MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina contributed to the total as well. For Rajasthan Royals, Chetan Sakariya took three wickets including Raina, Rayudu and Dhoni. South African all-rounder Morris got two wickets whereas Mustafizur Rahman and Rahul Tewatia got one wicket each.
