Ravindu Laksiri, starting his quest for a medal at Commonwealth Games 2018 at Gold Coast, commenced the first match for Sri Lanka in squash and beat Fijian counterpart comprehensively by three games to nil. He beat Fijian Romit Parshottam by 11-2, 11-2, 11-5 in 12 minutes to proceed further in a Men’s singles round of 64 match.
In his next match Ravindu faced a tough challenge from Scotland’s Greg Lobban in the round of 32 but was eventually defeated by three games to nil (8-11,8-11,6-11).
Therefore, Ravindu will next meet Uganda’s Michael Kawooya in a classic plate round of 16 match tomorrow at 14.00 hrs local time.
Meanwhile in the Women’s Singles Sri Lanka’s Mihiliya Methsarani was outbeaten by New Zealand’s Amanda Murphy by three games to nil (10-12, 9-11, 4-11).
In her next game, Mihiliya will meet Amanda Haywood from Barbados in a plate round of 16 match tomorrow at 12.30 hrs local time in Australia.
