SLC Invitational T20 League commences today at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium with two double headers when SLC Grays, captained by National white-ball Captain Dasun Shanaka, takes on SLC
This game will be followed by SLC Blues captained by National white ball Vice-Captain Dhananjaya de Silva, meeting SLC Reds, led by former Sri Lanka skipper Dinesh Chandimal, in the second game commencing at 7:00 p.m.
The tournament has been hit by three players testing positive for COVID-19 and a further seven players failing a fitness test.
Badly hit are the SLC Reds, who have lost four players, but have been strengthened by the inclusion of left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya from SLC Grays. SLC Grays on the other hand, who have lost two players, have been boosted with the inclusion of Himasha Liyanage and Kamil Mishara from SLC Blues and SLC Greens respectively. SLC Blues and SLC Greens too have lost two players apiece but have not had any replacements.
Each team will play six games in the initial round of the league with the top two teams going into the final on 24 August.
