The home team has been training at the R. Premadasa Stadium, where all white ball matches are to be played. The team had practised from 2 pm at the Stadium on Friday.

Interestingly, the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) board has permitted the home players to bring their immediate family members in the hotel and the captain Dashun Shanaka’s wife (Chewanthi Perera) and Dinesh Chandimal’s wife (Ishika Jayasekara) have already joined the bio-bubble. The captain has been provided the suite room as per norm.

Fast bowling coach Chaminda Vaas is the only support staff member having his wife’s company.

“All wives underwent regular PCR tests and found to be Corona negatives”, the source adds.

These lady members will not be leaving the team hotel during players’ training. It is not known whether they would be allowed to go to the stadium during match-days.

None of the present South African ODI team members is accompanied by his wife or the girl-friend. However, one or two T-20I players may bring family.

The visiting South African team are beginning their first practice session in Sri Lanka from Saturday onwards. “They will practice at The Singhalese Sports Club (SSC) Ground. The entire team is not scheduled to practice at go but they will train in three different batches”, one of the sources, said exclusively over the telephone.

The second batch of the SA team (T-20 specialists) are scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka on September 3 (by a Commercial flight-Qatar Airways) and four ODI players, who are not part of the T-20 squad are scheduled to leave on September 8.

The three D/N ODIs’ (September 2, 4 & 7) and the three-night T-20Is (Sept. 10,12 & 14) will be played behind closed doors.
