Paralympics2020- Sri Lanka finished 66 in the medal tally

Sri Lanka finished 66th position in the overall medal tally with one gold and one bronze in Paralympcs2020 concluded in a grand style in Tokyo, Japan.

Dinesh Priyantha won a gold medal with a world record distance in Men’s Javelin Throw F46 while Samitha Dulan winning a bronze medal in Men’s Javelin Throw F44.

Sri lankan contingnet will leave Japan tomorrow (7) early hours and expected to land in the island in the evening around 5.15pm. The Ministry of Sports has arranged a special welcome ceremony to receive the contingent specially the medal winners with Health guidelines.

When the Olympics were held in Rio five years ago, China won the most medals, with Great Britain coming in second. Team China was leading the final medal count in the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympic Games until the last day when the United States prevailed and finished with the most medals of any nation.

However, the Chinese Paralympic Team has finally climbed the top to the most medals won, having grabbed a total of 207 medals, 96 of which gold, 60 silver, and 51 bronze. Great Britain concluded the Paralympics in second place with 124 medals, 41 of which were gold, 38 silver, and 45 bronze medals.
