The West Indies, the reigning World Twenty20 champions, have named their squad for this year’s World Cup.
For the first time since 2015, 36-year-old Ravi Rampaul has been named in the squad for the World Cup.
Roger Harper, head of the West Indies selection committee, said that they expect Ravi’s wicket-taking during the Powerplay and throughout the match to make a big contribution to the team.
Another notable player in the 15-man squad is Roston Chase. He has won the Twenty20 for the first time in the Caribbean Premier League.
This time the World Cup squad will be led by Kieron Pollard and Nicholas Pooran will be the vice captain. Darren Bravo, Sheldon Cottrell, Jason Holder and Akeal Hosein have been added to the squad.
The West Indies are scheduled to play England in the opening match, while South Africa and Australia are the other rivals in the West Indies squad.
However, only the teams that win the first two places in this category will qualify for the round of Super 12.
