It was announced today (12) that several other top players will withdraw from the second round of the Indian Premier League this year.
Among them were Jonny Bairstow of Sunrises Hyderabad, Dawid Malan of Punjab Kings and Chris Woakes of Delhi Capitals. Announcing their departure, they said they would withdraw from the tournament for personal reasons.
The Indian Test team is currently on a tour of England and the Indian and English players participating in the second round of the Indian Premier League were previously scheduled to arrive on the same flight from Manchester to the United Arab Emirates.
However, cricket administrations of both countries had taken steps to cancel the fifth match of the India-England Test series due to the coronavirus infecting several officials of the Indian team. The Indian Cricket Board (ICB) has said that each Indian Premier League team will have to use separate aircraft to bring in its players.
