Jayasuriya 100 and Tharanga 86 stand out in Colombo and Galle wins

Chamara Silva scored a superb 87 off 90 balls inclusive of 10 boundaries sharing in a 165-run fourth wicket alliance with Jayasuriya. Jeevan Mendis claimed 4 for 38 for Kandy.

Kandy’s top scorer was Mahela Udawatte with 71 inclusive of 7 boundaries and 2 sixes. Niroshan Dickwella made 60 with 5 boundaries and 2 sixes. Lakshan Sandakan picked 4 for 49 for Colombo.

Meanwhile, Galle clinched a 11-run win over Dambulla on the revised D/L method in a rain affected match at the Colombo Cricket Club grounds. Dambulla, put into bat, made 257 for 8 from 50 overs with Ashan Priyanjan striking a superb 101 off 120 balls containing 6 boundaries and 4 sixes. Milinda Siriwardena scored 45 off 38 balls with 2 boundaries and 3 sixes.

Galle, set a revised D/L target of 240 from 46 overs, got home reaching 250 for 8 in the stipulated overs with skipper Upul Tharanga top scoring with 86 off 79 balls inclusive of 11 boundaries and a six. Asitha Fernando took 3 for 63 Dambulla.
