Yupun Abeykoon destroyed his personal best timing as he managed to run in 9.96 seconds, beating his previous best of 10.06 seconds, at the 100m A finals of Résisprint International 2022 in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland.
Yupun’s timing is remarkable for it is now the fastest timing by an Asian this year and the only instance where an Asian runner ran a sub 10. This record supersedes the fact that this is a new Sri Lankan or South Asian record. This is also the 4th best timing by an Asian after Bingtian Su, Femi Ogunode and Ryota Yamagata.
