Defending a total of 194, Pakistan skittled out Hong Kong on 38 to reach the Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup.
Naseem Shah got the ball rolling for Pakistan with the wickets of Nizakat Khan and Babar Hayat. Shahnawaz Dahani then put Hong Kong three down after Yasim Murtaza mistimed his pull. Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz took seven wickets between themselves to clean over Hong Kong’s middle-order and tail for cheap.
Earlier, Pakistan recovered from Babar Azam’s early dismissal to post a total of 193 for two against Hong Kong in a virtual knock-out match in the Asia Cup.
Pakistan’s innings got off to the worst possible start as Ehsan Khan got the better of the Pakistan skipper in the third over. However, Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman’s 116-run partnership gave Pakistan a good platform for accelerating their innings.
Zaman was dismissed on 53 by Ehsan while Rizwan remained unbeaten 78. Khushdil Shah played an unbeaten cameo of 35 off 15 balls to take Pakistan past the 190-run mark.
