Sri Lanka defeated Malaysia 55-53 in the second round of the Asian Netball Championships 2022.
Malaysia was up against defending champions Sri Lanka. They also had to deal with a towering 2.10m opponent in shooter Tharjini Sivalingam.
The valiant Malaysians gave it their all, they came close, but heartbreakingly lost 55-53 in the second round of the Asian Championships in Singapore today.
The national women’s team had advanced to the second round after emerging as Group C champions with wins over Brunei (78-22) and Taiwan (82-25).
However, world No 19 Sri Lanka, led by the menacing Tharjini, pushed their way past a gritty world no 25 Malaysia.
Sri Lanka will face arch-rivals Singapore in their next game tomorrow, at 4.30 pm Sri Lankan time.
They will face the hosts Singapore tomorrow.
