Sri Lanka stays undefeated after 62-51 win, but Krystle Edwards says Hong Kong have ‘good chance’ in Saturday semi-final – ‘we just have to believe”
Hong Kong star Krystie Edwards said “we know we can win” after the side showed lots of fight in their 62-51 group stage loss to undefeated Sri Lanka at the Asian Netball Championships in Singapore on Thursday night.
Sri Lanaka, the defending champions and five-time winners of the event took an early lead and looked unstoppable as they forced a less experienced Hong Kong into a lopsided chase.
Hong Kong, however, did show signs of brilliance, particularly in the second half where they mounted a comeback to close the deficit and threaten their opponents, but it was not enough.
The game was largely defined by towering Sri Lankan goal shooter Tharjini Sivalingam, who scored a massive 58 points for her side with an accuracy of 85 per cent. Hong Kong defender Moyo Thandiwe was no match for her 2.06-metres frame.
