Afghanistan won the toss and elected to field against Australia in a T20 World Cup game on Friday.
Australia made three changes. Aaron Finch has been ruled out of the game with a hamstring injury and wicketkeeper Matthew Wade will lead Australia in his absence.
Australia has one foot out of the T20 World Cup, and may need Sri Lanka to pull off a shock upset win over England, after the hosts struggled with the bat against Afghanistan at Adelaide Oval on Friday.
Having lost the toss, Australia posted a total of 8-168 from 20 overs, which featured a collapse of 4-30 in the final four-and-a-half overs.
Australia must now skittle Afghanistan for less than 106 to boost its net run rate to above that of England, who it is fighting with for second spot in Group 1.
Afghanistan is 6-103 after 14.3 overs.
Josh Hazlewood took the first wicket after Usman Ghani (2 off 7) was caught off a sky ball by Pat Cummins.
Kane Richardson later struck in his first over with Rahmanullah Gurbaz caught at mid-off for 30 off 17.
Adam Zampa provided Australia with a huge boost with two wickets in the space of four balls in the 14th over, dismissing Ibrahim Zadran and Najibullah Zadran while Gulbain Naib was runout by Glenn Maxwell within that collapse.
