Abdullah Shafique, Agha Salman Shine As Pakistan Dominate Sri Lanka At Stumps

Salman Ali Agha has brought up his second Test century as 5-down Pakistan are going ahead strongly in the game.

Taking Pakistan off to a resounding start on Day 3 of the 2nd Test against Sri Lanka, Abdullah Shafique completed his century in little time to put his team in the driving seat.

After an eventful Day 1 where Pakistan took charge of the proceedings by bundling out Sri Lanka for just 166, little happened on Day 2 as the heavens opened up, resulting in rain almost the entire day.

As the third day’s play begins, Pakistan would look to build on the 12-run lead they already have, with Babar Azam and Abdullah Shafique in the middle. For Sri Lanka, making use of the first session in picking early wickets would be key to making a comeback. |

Abdullah Shafique homed in on a maiden Test double-ton, as Pakistan tightened their grip on this second Test at the SSC. At tea on day three they were on 397 for 4 leading by 231 runs, with Agha Salman keeping Shafique company.
During the tea break, news came in that Sarfaraz Ahmed had been replaced by Mohammad Rizwan due to concussion; he had been struck on the helmet first ball of his innings but continued to bat another 21 balls before being forced to retire hurt.
