In the 18th battle of LPL 2023 between Colombo Strikers and B-Love Kandy at RPICS, CS’s new skipper Chamika Karunaratne won the toss and elected to bat first. Pathum Nissanka smashed 51 runs from 38 balls, while Nipun Dhananjaya contributed 40 runs, helping CS set a challenging target of 169/9 for BLK. Angelo Mathews, Isuru Udana, and Wanindu Hasaranga each took 2 wickets for BLK.
In reply, BLK’s skipper Wanindu Hasaranga scored 40 runs, including six 4s and one six, while Asif Ali scored 33 runs. However, their efforts weren’t enough to chase the target. Matheesha Pathirana and Jeffrey Vandersay took 2 wickets each for CS, leading them to victory by 9 runs.
