Maliyadeva Balika Kurunegala emerged overall champions at the 30th Milo School Netball Championship which concluded at Gallella Public grounds Polonnaruwa yesterday. After 13 years Maliyadeva Balika won overall championship and they were able to overtake their arch rivals HFC Kurunegala who clichéd overall champions title continuously during the last decade.
It was a fine display by young Maliyadeva girls when they won dual championships of Under 17 and under 13 ‘A’ champion titles to become overall champions while last year overall champions Holy Family Convent (HFC) Kurunegala had to be satisfied with only under 19 championship defeating HFC Kalutara.
The under 15 final won by Musaeus College Colombo defeating Maliyadeva Balika in the final.
The three day event attracted more than 500 players and the meet was successfully conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Netball Association while Nestle Lanka Pvt Ltd once again gave their Sponsorship.
The Managing director of Nestle Lanka Pvt Ltd Bernhard Stefan was the chief guest and gave away the awards. Schools Netball President Nirodha Abeywickrama, Nestle Lanka Vice President Bandula Egodage were also present on the occasion.
