Do-or-die clash for Babar Azam & Co against Bangladesh in World Cup

Pakistan will be aiming to return to the winning ways as they prepare to take on Bangladesh in match 31 of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Under the captaincy of Babar Azam, the Pakistani team began the World Cup with two back-to-back wins, but since then, they have suffered four consecutive losses. On the other hand, Bangladesh, after winning their first match against Afghanistan in the competition, has now faced defeat in five matches.

Pakistan recently experienced a heartbreaking defeat by one wicket against South Africa in Chennai. Despite defending a target of 271 on a challenging pitch, Pakistan’s fast bowlers displayed determination and remained competitive until the very end. However, South Africa held their nerve and clinched the victory with 16 balls to spare. This loss marks Pakistan’s fourth consecutive defeat in the tournament, with their last win coming on October 10 against Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, have had a forgettable World Cup campaign. After winning their opening match against Afghanistan, they have suffered five consecutive losses. In their last game, they were bowled out for a mere 142 while chasing a target of 230 against the Netherlands. This defeat has dropped Bangladesh to the 9th position on the table, with a dismal net run rate of -1.338. Nevertheless, they still have three games remaining in the tournament and an opportunity to finish on a positive note.
