FIR filed against BCCI, CAB for promoting black marketing of Cricket World Cup tickets

Ahead of IND vs SA on Sunday, November 05 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, a fan has filed an FIR against the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), BookMyShow and CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal) for promoting black marketing of Cricket World Cup tickets.

In the complaint, the fan has alleged that a large quantity of tickets, initially intended for public release, has been amassed by the BCCI, CAB, and BookMyShow and sold to black market operators for personal profit.

The Kolkata Police has now issued notices to the CAB and BookMyShow, asked the officials to appear on Thursday, November 2nd, to cooperate with the ongoing investigation.

However, the BCCI and BookMyShow are yet to release a statement on the alleged complaint. Notably, several cases of tickets being sold in black markets has surfaced since the start of the World Cup. Earlier, Kolkata police had arrested a man for selling the IND vs SA match tickets worth INR 2500 at INR 11,000 each.

India have won all their six ODI matches in the World Cup. The Men in Blue are currently at the top of the table with 12 points and are certain to qualify for the semi-final.
