Team India defeated Sri Lanka by 302 runs and Qualified for Semi finals in the 33rd match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at Wankhede Stadium. It was an easy game for India, as their bowling performance was on fire. Sri Lankan batters tried to score runs but were restricted to 55 runs in 19.4 overs. Mohammed Shami was the standout bowler for India, taking 5 wickets, while Mohammed Siraj took 3 wickets.
Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bowl first. In the first over, Rohit Sharma was dismissed by Dilshan Madushanka for just 4 runs. After that, the King and the Prince displayed a brilliant partnership. Shubman Gill scored 92 runs, and Virat Kohli added 88 runs before falling to Madushanka. Shreyas Iyer also contributed 88 runs, and India managed to post 357 runs in their allocated 50 overs. With this loss, Sri Lanka’s weaknesses in cricket were once again highlighted. They need to work on improving their performance quickly.
