Sri Lanka Under-19 lost to India Under-19 by an innings and 21 runs having being dismissed for 324 in the second innings on the fourth and final day of the first unofficial test match played at the NCC grounds on Friday.
The Lankans having totaled 244 in the first innings, trailed by 345 runs following the visiting team’s mammoth first innings total of 589.
The host team’s second innings was bolstered by K.N.M. Fernando’s 104 off 118 balls inclusive of 17 boundaries and 2 sixes. Coming in at 42 for 1 he put on 91 for the second wicket with skipper Dananjaya Perera who made 20. But on reaching his century Fernando threw his wicket when well set through indiscretion going for a big shot and holing out a catch which put paid to his side’s hopes of saving the match. M.N.K. Fernando made 78.
The Indians victory was set up by the two century knocks of A. Badoni struck an unbeaten 185 and A. Taide 113.
