Virat Kohli surpasses Rahul Dravid’s record in the first Test against South Africa

In a remarkable feat, star batsman Virat Kohli has surged past head coach Rahul Dravid to claim the third spot in the list of leading run-scorers in Tests in South Africa. At the start, Kohli required just 16 runs to surpass Dravid’s record of 1252 runs in 25 matches.

Kohli’s next target is former Indian opener Virender Sehwag. Sehwag holds the second position with 1306 Test runs in 15 matches in South Africa. However, the summit of the elite list is currently occupied by the legendary Sachin Tendulkar who boasts 1741 Test runs in 25 Tests.

Facing a challenging start in the Boxing Day Test, Kohli was dropped at 4 runs by Tony de Zorzi. The South African pacers were lethal in the first session. Undeterred, the master batter capitalized on the opportunity, crafting sublime shots and reaching 33 runs at Lunch on Day 1.
