Rain ruins series decider between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh A

At around 4.20pm the match officials called off the game with no result given as there is no reserve day for the game

The third and series deciding one-day between host Bangladesh A and Sri Lanka A at Sylhet International Stadium on Sunday ended without result due to rain. The series was at level with Bangladesh winning the first game and Sri Lanka winning the second. Result for the third and the final one-day of the series would had determined the winner but was denied by heavy showers in in the city located in the east side of the country.

Bangladesh were chasing 241 runs with opener Saif Hassan and Zakir Hasan in the middle when rain poured to stop the score on 12 for no loss for Bangladesh A after 3.4 overs. At around 4.20pm the match officials called off the game with no result given as there is no reserve day for the game.

Earlier, Sri Lanka A won the toss and went to bat first. Riding on opener Sadeera Samarawickrama’s 75, Ashan Priyanjan’s 53 and captain Thisara Parera’s 44 the side posted 240 runs losing nine wickets. Bangladesh left-arm spinner Sunzamul Islam led the local bowling attack with four wickets while conceding just 26 runs in seven overs. Pacer Khaled Ahmed picked two wickets.

With the game the month long homes series for Bangladesh A came to an end. The home team lost the three-match four-day cricket series 1-0 with the first two matches there ending as draws. The three-match one-day series finished level with Bangladesh A and Sri Lanka A winning a game each.
