Sri Lanka recorded their first victory in the Under 19 cricket world cup by beating Zimbabwe by 39 runs on DL.
Sri Lanka asked to bat first, and they were in trouble by loosing three early wickets. . Dinura Kalupahana contributed 60 runs with six fours and two sixes, while Sharujan Shanmuganathan’s unbeaten 41 runs helped stabilize the Sri Lankan innings to a decent score. They bowled out for 204 runs in 48.3 overs
For Zimbabwe, Kohl Eksteen took 3 wickets, and Newman Nyamhuri and Matthew Schonken took 2 wickets each.
Chasing the target, Zimbabwe faced a tough challenge as a result of the superb spells by the Sri Lankan bowlers. Zimbabwe was eventually all out for 89 runs in 21.1 overs. Malsha Tharupathi was the standout bowler for Sri Lanka, taking 4 wickets for just 11 runs. However, SL Under-19s won by 39 runs (DLS method).
