On the first day of the forty-eighth national sports tournament which started yesterday at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo, WAM of the Eastern Province won the gold medal by finishing the women’s 10,000 meters race in 34:35.92 minutes. Rasara Wijesuriya managed to break a 29-year-old record. There she deleted the Sabaragamuwa PSPSS in 1995. Jayasena set the record in 35:03.0 minutes.
