Omel Shashintha Silva of St. Sebastian’s College, Kadana, made history yesterday by equaling the 22-year-old Sri Lanka Under-18 boys’ 400m record on the third day at the Sir John Tarbat Senior Athletics Championship held at Sugathadasa Stadium.
The South Asian Junior 400m silver medalist finished the race in an impressive 47.10 seconds, matching the record set by former champion Manoj Pushpakumara from A. Rathnayaka CC, Walala, in 2002. This outstanding performance also earned Silva the meet record
